Pastor's Bio

 Pastor David Washington Jr. preaches the word of God with passion and without apology. He is known by his congregation as a true shepherd, teacher, leader and one who tells it like it is! Pastor David Washington Jr, is the youngest child and only son of Pastor David Washington Sr and Elizabeth Washington. He was raised in the church and accepted Christ at the age of 9. He is the husband of First Lady, Errica Washington and the proud father of Gabriella, Hannah, Faith, Joyelle, and David III.

Pastor Washington was a standout athlete at Brother Rice High School, in Birmingham Michigan and earned a full basketball scholarship to Iowa State University in 1989. While Pastor Washington believed his future to be in the NBA, God had a much different plan for his life. God redirected the script and led Pastor Washington to eventually transfer to Grand Rapids Baptist College where he would fully renew and rededicate his energy and passion to serving the Lord.

Pastor David Washington holds a BA Marketing from Grand Rapids Baptist College (1994) and he has earned a Master of Arts in Religion (2008) from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in Lynchburg Virginia. He has earned a Diploma in Church Planting and he is also a Certified Precept Inductive Bible Study instructor.

In 2000, Pastor David planted Canton Christian Fellowship Church, which started as an 8 member adult bible study.  Pastor David has maintained an approach to ministry that is uncompromising. He believes that the Word of God taught in a simple and applicable fashion can transform the lives of Believers. He stands by the belief that the “Word of God is not just a Word to be read, but a life to be lived.” He believes the church must produce disciples as the Great Commission mandates. In 2006, Pastor Washington led the Canton Christian Fellowship Church family into the purchase and renovation of its first facility. The church purchased an 11,000 square foot facility in December of 2005. The once industrial warehouse was completely renovated and converted into a beautiful worship and educational facility.

 Prior to becoming the full time Pastor of Canton Christian Fellowship Church in 2003, Pastor Washington spent 10 years in the corporate sector working for Ford Motor Company and Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical in Sales and Marketing Management.

Pastor Washington serves on several boards and organizations including; the  Moody Theological Seminary Advisory Board, Vice President of the Evangelical Pastors Network of Southeast Michigan, Vice President of the African American Fellowship of Michigan Pastors,  Executive Board of the Baptist State Convention of Michigan as well as the Executive Nominating Committee and Personnel Committee for the Greater Detroit Baptist Association.  He serves as a Church Planting Consultant and Trainer for the North American Mission Board Southern Baptist Convention.

In November 2008, Pastor David became founder and CEO of a new personal endeavor, Transformed Lives Ministries (TLM).  Through TLM, Pastor Washington has expanded his vast experience as a regular guest speaker, evangelist, and trainer on leadership at many churches, Family Life Church conferences, Men’s Conferences, State and Regional Evangelism Conferences, Youth Conferences both locally and nationally.
